Taiji chuan
10.30am - 11.30am
Saturdays October 29 - Dec 3
Lee-Ana Lowe
Taiji chuan (Tai Chi Chuan) is a slow moving martial art which may help hand-eye coordination. Lee-Ana Lowe teaches a big, Yang style but it can be adapted for those that need a smaller frame.
Lee-Ana’s Taiji chuan journey began in the mid-90s, learning the standard short form and competition form from John Young in Wellington. While studying Chinese medicine from 2004, she learned Yang style Taiji with Peter Larking whose teacher Tunji (Adejola Olatunji) would also teach from time to time.
Reflecting her own teachers’ practices, Lee-Ana teaches Taiji in a style that is large in frame, with big movements, rocking back and forth with the change in weight distribution, and working with yin and yang by expanding and contracting in slow continuous movements.
Stretching for the stiff

Do you forget to stretch after your gym workout, bike ride or run?
Do you have tight hamstrings, shoulders or hips?
Would you like to improve your flexibility and bring more balance to your body?
This 6-week stretching course may be just what you need. Because there is no aesthetic ideal to reach, but instead an emphasis on a functional approach, this type of stretching can be very liberating.
Complement your already active lifestyle through holding gentle stretches for a longer (than you may be used to) period of time in a more relaxed and mindful manner.
Increase your body awareness and learn some new or different approaches to stretching.
